If you run into a customer who would like the Base unit in an area where the LED display may cause an annoyance, you can set the base unit to automatically darken the display. Sometimes a customer will want to place the WESROC Base Unit in a bedroom or den where the Tank or Time display might be intrusive. The Standard and Deluxe Base Units both have adjustable brightness.
To adjust the display brightness, press the MODE button on the WESROC Base Unit until you are in the Temperature Mode. Press and hold the MODE button for approximately two seconds. Once the display shows the same number in all four digits, use the UP/DOWN arrow buttons to adjust the display brightness. The Base Unit has seven display brightness levels with "11 11" being the dimmest and "77 77" being the brightest. A setting of "00 00" enables an Auto-Off feature which turns the display off after about four minutes. Once you have changed the brightness setting to the desired level, tap the MODE button to return to the Temperature Display. When a WESROC Base Unit is in Auto-Off mode, pressing any button will reset the Auto-Off timer and turn the display back on with a mid-range brightness setting of 4. A Tank Transmitter that falls below its Critical level will also turn on the display and flash the tank level. If you run into a Base Unit in the field that "just keeps randomly shutting off", you might want to check and see if the customer, or the installation tech might have set the brightness to Auto-off.
Tip #14 A couple of recent tech calls relating to the Base Unit's display have led to this Tech Tip.
