WOW . . . July and August have been record months with the number of installs going on around the country. We have been experiencing a lot of new techs out in the field using the slower time of summer to get tank monitors deployed on their priority tanks. This months tech tip involves identifying the correct tanks to monitor to maximize your return on investment. ITC has done deployment strategy studies on the past delivery history of over one hundred thousand tanks. We identified tanks that were run out the most often, and tanks where short drops were common. At the top of both lists are Propane Resellers. If you deliver gas to a location that fills bottles, you should definitely be monitoring that tank. These tanksare impossible to predict using degree day software, and are by far the most likely to be short filled or run out of gas. Most reseller locations will pay back the cost of a tank monitor insaved deliveries in just 3 months. Stop short filling those reseller tanks and start collecting the increased profit margins.
With the amount of rain the Midwest has been getting this year, I cringe at the thought of a winter with as much snow. Now is a good time to install tank monitors that are located on steep roads or remote locations that could easily drift shut.
If you have new technicians that need training materials, give us a call at Tech Support 866-4WESROC (866-493-7762) or send us an email (info@wesroc.net). We'll send them a Training DVD and a Product Installation Guide. Any other questions they may have can be answered over the phone. We normally like to have a new technician practice on the Yard tank or an employee's tank. This allows them to practice all the installation steps in a less public setting and ensures they have the correct tools to start installations in the field. Summer is also a great time to work through any alarm locations on your reports. If you have locations on your daily report showing a system alarm, give us a call at Tech Support and we would be happy to work with you to get these locations taken care of before the heating season begins.
