One of the features
included with the WESROC Base Units (Standard and Deluxe) is the display of indoor temperature for the customer. This information is also sent back to the WESROC host with each report. The WESROC system also has the ability to instantly alert the propane/fuel oil
supplier if a customer's indoor temperature gets too low or too high. A low/high temperature alarm threshold is stored inside the base unit and will cause the base unit to call in to report a temperature alarm if these conditions are exceeded. If monitoring temperatures is a high priority you should consider using Deluxe Base Units. The Deluxe Base Units will report a temperature alarm even when the power is off. It will also notify you that the power is off at the location. A Deluxe base unit has the ability to monitor additional temperatures in remote areas of the home, well pits, or adjoining structures using a WESROC Temperature Transmitter. Unlike Deluxe Base Units, Standard Base Units need power to report to the WESROC Host computer. If a Standard Base Unit loses power and the temperature drops due to the power outage, no alarm call can be made.
Setting the low temperature threshold value correctly is an important part of a successful plan to offer these services to your customer. The low temperature alarm threshold should be at least 5 degrees below the normal temperature of the home (thermostat setting) to allow for swings in temperature due to furnace operation.
The temperature alarm alerts are another example of our Instant Email Alerts that can be sent 24/7. Along with the propane/fuel supplier, the customer can also be added to this alert if desired. This is a feature that many companies offer to customers with second homes who might go away for the winter. We can set the indoor temperature alert at any value. We use the default setting of 45F unless you specify a different setting. If you are offering this service to your customer, it's very important that you discuss the operation with the customer so they are aware of how the system operates. When the temperature drops below the threshold level at the home, the base unit will call the host computer to report the alarm. The host computer sends out an "Alarm Active - Base Temp Low XX degrees" email. There will be no additional emails until the temperature of the home increases to 2 degrees above the alarm threshold. This will cause the base unit to call the host computer, and the computer will send out the "Alarm Clear - Base Temp Low XX degrees" email letting you know that the low temperature condition has been cleared.
